Jami Ouelette offered thanks to the judge, prosecutors, and police and firefighters.

Following the announcement that Donald Greenslit, 53, had been sentenced to life in prison for murdering Stacie Dorego, her sister, Jami Ouellette, issued a written statement on May 15.

"While we feel that true justice cannot be served as long as Greenslit lives or worse, could be paroled, we recognize the limits of the system in RI. Our family would like to thank Judge McGuirl, who has been compassionate, intelligent and insightful, for imposing the maximum sentence allowable," wrote Ouelette. "We are also incredibly thankful to the prosecutors, Daniel Guglielmo and Sara Tindall-Woodman for their tireless, effective fight for justice,Β as well as the Attorney General's office family liaisons, for the overwhelmingΒ support for our family.

"And to the Johnston Firefighters and Police, you are our heroes.
