The former FM Global headquarters on Atwood Avenue is soon to be renovated to the tune of $60 million and will reopen as Northwoods — a 340,000 square foot office complex.
After FM Global moved to their new, $154 million headquarters off Central Avenue, the former HQ building was left empty.
The reconstruction will expand the existing building and bring new energy-efficient systems that should earn the project LEED Gold certification — a badge that marks high energy efficiency and construction methods.
Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena said the reconstruction project "is like a dream come true for a mayor," according to the Providence Journal.
