Armed Smithfield Man Drove While Intoxicated: Cops

LINCOLN, RI — An armed Smithfield man drove while intoxicated, police said.

Roger Vaughan, 64, was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, refusal to submit to a chemical test and weapons other than firearms prohibited, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

Vaughan was arrested during a traffic stop on Twin River Road in Lincoln, according to the release.

"Vaughan was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and released pending a future date at the Third Division District Court," the release said.
