Update: Powerball Jackpot Grows to $550 Million

Tonight a lucky someone might be half-a-billion dollars richer.

Brisk lottery sales push the record jackpot $50 million higher on Wednesday, totaling a record breaking $550 million prize. After Uncle Sam's cut, that would leave the winner with $360.2 million in cash.

According to the official Powerball website, the drawing will be held tonight at 10:59 p.m. In Rhode Island, the drawing will be televised live on WPRI.

There has been no Powerball winner since Oct. 6. The chance of winning the $500 million jackpot is 1 in 175,223,510.
