'I'm Joking': Portsmouth Man Arrested After Order At KFC

A Portsmouth man allegedly ordered customers at a Middletown fast food restaurant to 'get face down on the floor.'

MIDDLETOWN, RI—A Portsmouth man was charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly ordered customers at a Middletown fast food restaurant to 'get face down on the floor.' Austin Tyler Browner, 24, of Portsmouth, went into the Kentucky Fried Chicken on West Main Road on Feb. 19 around 6:25 p.m., police said. He was holding his cell phone, according to the employee at the register, and he ordered everyone in the restaurant to lie down on their stomachs. He repeated the order when an employee told him to leave. But the second time, the employee threatened to call police, Browner allegedly said, "Chill man, I'm joking."

Then he left, and so did several shaken customers, according to the arrest report. Police spotted him walking on Oliphant Lane and picked him up. The charge is a misdemeanor.
