Parking Problem Leads To Woman's Arrest

A neighbor parked his motorcycle so a woman couldn't move her car. She called police. She wound up under arrest.

MIDDLETOWN, RI — Sabrina Ann Fry, of Middletown, was trying to tell an officer she was fed up with a dirty trick her neighbor was allegedly repeatedly playing on her family. He nosed his motorcycle close to her car to block her in. The neighbor said she parked her car five feet away from his driveway, and he felt it was too hard for him to get in and out. So, he retaliated. Fry said she called police repeatedly about the problem, but nothing was done. This time, on Oct. 17 at 6:35 p.m. something happened. A patrol officer arrested her. He had responded to her Woolsey Road home to deal with her complaint. When she tried to explain her issue, he told her to lower her voice and back away.

He spoke to the neighbor next. The neighbor agreed to move his motorcycle, but police said she threatened the neighbor. The officer grabbed her arm; and ultimately, when he felt she was resisting arrest by trying to break free of his hold, he brought her to the ground, put her on her stomach to cuff her, and threatened to taze her. When more neighbors came out of their houses to witness the arrest, he called for backup.

Fry was treated by fire department paramedics for cuts suffered during the arrest. She declined to be taken to Newport Hospital, police said. She was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
