5 THINGS: Budgets, Sports and Kindergarten Prep
We have a wide smattering of events in today's Five Things.
Here are the (more than) Five Things for Wednesday, April 11, 2012:
“If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?” – Abraham Lincoln. Here are tonight’s government meetings:
- The South Kingstown Town Council and South Kingstown School Committee meet at 7 p.m. at town hall for a budget hearing.
- The Narragansett School Committee meets at 7 p.m. at town hall.
“From the moment I picked your book up until I laid it down I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it..” – Groucho Marx. There are several book groups meeting today as well. Here they are:

- The Beyond Words Book Group meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Kingston Free Library to discuss Room by Emma Donoghue.
The first step on the path to college! Before the kids can go to college, they have to pass high school. And before high school comes middle school. And before middle school comes elementary school. And before that comes kindergarten. And before THAT comes a Narragansett Kindergarten Readiness Camp at Maury Loontjens Memorial Library at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
Don’t get mad as hell, and instead, take this… um… anymore. Riptides Restaurant at the Grinnell Inn on Narragansett Avenue in Narragansett will be hosting Network at Noon, which is offered by the Narragansett Chamber of Commerce. Please RSVP by e-mailing Deb Kelso at dkelso@narragansettcoc.com. Bring plenty of business cards!

Hipsters rejoice! On this day in 1976, the Apple I was created. Much like how the foundation of Skynet eventually begets the end of civilization, the development of Apple meant your kids hitting you up hundreds of dollars for iPads and iPods and iMoneywasters. Good for y’all!
Happy birthday, Joss Stone! I actually don’t care that much for your music, but you’re a great guest on Craig Ferguson (warning: PG-13 in content). So, that’s pretty cool. Happy 24th birthday!
