5 THINGS: Graduations, Dingers and Meetings

It's Adrian Gonzalez's birthday, and we have some locals graduating from Keene State College.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Tuesday, May 8, 2012:

Congrats to local Keene State College graduates! According to a release, the following local residents will be graduating from Keene State College this semester: Thomas Green (Saunderstown), Alyssa Marinaccio (Narragansett), Timothy Reiss (Wakefield), and Lea Swanson (Wakefield).

Make a book! The will host a book craft event for kids today from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Children will make their own story books and bookmarks. All ages are welcome, and the event is free.

What a good choice, with Mother’s Day around the corner. will show I Remember Mama at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The film follows the life of a Norwegian immigrant family in 1910 San Francisco and centers around the main character Mama (Irenne Dunne) and her detailed, penny-wise household budget. The movie was made in 1948, and it’s family-friendly.

Something appropriate for the tiny kids! Feel free to take the kids to at the Kingston Free Library. Drop-ins are welcome, but please register ahead of time if you can. The fun runs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Something appropriate for middle school kids! The at the meets at 4 p.m. The discussion topic this week is Chomp by Carl Hiaasen.

Register for Narragansett or South Kingstown summer camp! Narragansett Parks and Recreation is now taking registrations for , which begins June 25. The cost is $135, and the camp typically runs into late August. South Kingstown is also , and to see their summer camp guide, go here.

The business of government business. Today’s municipal meetings:

  • The Narragansett Town Council is meeting at town hall to discuss energy projects at 6:30 p.m.
  • The South Kingstown Planning Board is at 7 p.m. at town hall.
