5 THINGS: Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, It's Back To Work I Go...
Shake off the Monday doldrums with some of these events.

Here are the Five Things for Monday, January 30, 2012:
Suggest an event! As usual, our events calendar is a bit light, since it's Monday. Typically, it doesn't seem like there are a lot of events scheduled right in the beginning of the work week. Two of last week's Monday Five Things still apply – there is a and you can sign up for free Everbridge town emergency alerts. Unfortunately, it is not again TAT's birthday.
“Either you bring the water to Narragansett or you bring Narragansett to the water.” Hopefully, doesn't town council work session doesn't actually resemble Chinatown, one of my favorite movies. But the town council is discussing the water and wastewater rates with the Pioneer Consulting Group at 6:30 p.m. tonight at .

“See my finger see my thumb, we got the ball you better run!” The only varsity sports action on today's schedule is cheerleading. The team will travel to Portsmouth for a meet at 7:30 p.m. For directions, click here. Also competing are Cranston East, East Greenwich, East Providence, Exeter/West Greenwich, the La Salle Academy, Middletown High School, Mount St. Charles, Mt. Hope, Pilgrim, Rogers, Tiverton, Toll Gate, Warwick Vets and Westerly. According to Narragansett head coach Kristen Razza, sophomore Alicia Perry and junior Victoria Sauro have also been named to the Rhode Island All-Around team. Congrats, girls! At their first official meet last week, the Mariners scored a 66.00, putting them at eighth of the 16 competing schools. (Note: Breakdown via class / division was unavailable.)
Run fast! No, faster! The only other event on the sports calendar today is the boys' indoor track freshman states. However, that does come with the caveat that only freshmen who have not qualified for states are allowed to compete. Therefore, you might want to check in with your favorite Gansett freshman before making the trek up to the Providence Career and Technical Academy for this one. (Also, the RIIL hasn't yet listed a time for the event.)

Win streaks galore! In recapping action from this past weekend and Friday, it was a good weekend to be a Narragansett female athlete. The girls' hockey team won all three games it played – twice against Lincoln, and once against a co-op from Barrington, Mt. Hope and Portsmouth. The team is now 5-7 in DeCosta League play, and seventh of 11 teams in the overall PowerPoint standings. On the hardwood, the girls' team remains undefeated, improving to 10-0 in Division II-South with a win Friday against Prout (9-6, 6-5 Division II-South). The girls travel to Rogers High School (12-2, 10-1 Division II-South) in Newport for a key divisional game 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Rogers' only Division II loss was a 20-point drubbing at the hands of the Mariners on Dec. 19.
