5 THINGS: Last Call for Budgeting!

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Monday, April 30, 2012:

Serious business. The South Kingstown Town Council will adopt its budget for the 2013 fiscal year tonight. The starts at 7 p.m. at town hall.

Plan properly to attend planning. The Narragansett Planning Board at 6 p.m. at town hall to hear about a half-dozen applicants. (Sorry, I have no pithy comments about this.)

Register for Narragansett or South Kingstown summer camp! Narragansett Parks and Recreation is now taking registrations for , which begins June 25. The cost is $135, and the camp typically runs into late August. South Kingstown is also , and to see their summer camp guide, go here.

And where would we be without gumbo and catfish? On this day in 1803, the United States signed the Louisiana Purchase. And this might shock you, but the two political parties disagreed at the time about whether it was a good idea! I’m just glad we’ve gotten over that partisan bickering in the ensuing 200 years.

Happy birthday, Kirsten Dunst! Amazingly, you’re only 30 – I had thought you were much older. With you, I shall always remember the good (Spiderman) and not the bad (you singing “Turning Japanese” for some insane reason).
