The council will consider a slew of issues at its 7:30 p.m. meeting Monday.

It could be a busy night for the Narragansett Town Council on Monday, as there are several spending motions on the agenda for its 7:30 p.m. meeting.

On the table for discussion will be $131,388.95 for a dump truck with a snowplow attachment, $100,475 for four police vehicles, $37,198 for a new 4-wheel drive pickup with a snowplow for the fire department, $33,084.00 for a new snowplow pickup truck for the public works department and $29,980 for town hall break room and kitchen renovations.

According to documents available on ClerkBase, several of these items are already budgeted for in the 2011-12 budget. The council will also discuss about $40,000 in contracts related to Hurricane Irene cleanup.

In other business, the council will also have a motion to approve a severance agreement for former Parks and Recreation director Barry Fontaine. A copy of the agreement is attached to this story as a PDF.

According to the agreement, Fontaine would receive about $28,000 – three months salary and one-third of his sick leave balance. As part of the agreement, the town and Fontaine would be prohibited from “making disparaging remarks about one another,” and Fontaine would not be allowed to re-apply for any town job.
