RHODE ISLAND — It is time to head to the polls.

The weather will be great on Tuesday in South Kingstown for the primary, and there are competitive races for U.S. Senate and in the Rhode Island General Assembly.

Voting

Rhode Island voters cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Milford High School, 100 West St.

The following candidates are involved in competitive races on Tuesday.

U.S. Senate (Democrat)

State Senate (Democrat)

District 37 (New Shoreham, South Kingstown)

  • V. Susan Sosnowski (incumbent)
  • Anita Jacobson.

There are no contested Republican primaries for Rhode Island State Senate.

Voter ID Law

Rhode Island requires a valid photo ID to vote. If you do not bring a photo ID to the polls, you may cast a provisional ballot. Provisional ballots then are returned to a local board of canvassers, where election officials will make sure a mail ballot has not already been cast to ensure people do not vote twice.
