5 THINGS: Blood, Baby Rembrandt and Russians
Looking for something to do today? Just looking for some random information to entertain you? Well, one of these "five things" should apply then.

Here are the five things for Monday, December 12, 2011:
- “We want your BLOOD!” - The Rhode Island Blood Center. The blood center will be hosting a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. today. Not sure if you can donate? Check the guidelines here. Subway is in the same plaza, so treat yourself to a cookie or two afterward.
- Discover the next Rembrandt, or at least the next Warhol. The Narragansett Pier School will be holding at the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library tonight. The gallery opens at 5 p.m., and it features work from 45 to 60 students. Ascots and monocles are not required for entry.
- Wine and cheese, without the whine. The Mariner Grille is hosting today for the Children's Friend. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and any new or unwrapped toy, warm clothing items, retail gift cards or money donation will be accepted.
- “The chief constable shall receive one pig every month and two comely lasses of virtue true...” Okay, so Narragansett's charter isn't quite as exciting as Springfield's. However, there are, presumably, aspects of the charter you would like the town council to address. If so, please attend at 6 p.m. tonight at town hall.
- Appropriately enough, it is not Russian Constitution Day. According to Wikipedia, Russia stopped celebrating it in 2005. In case you hadn't heard, in a recent election, voter turnout was 146 percent in Mother Russia. For more, randomly-related Russian humor, here is Sealab 2021. “It don't mean butt if it ain't got that jutt!”
