Five Things, July 1: Food Trucks, Narragansett Town Council and More
Today is Monday, July 1, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.

Editor on Vacation: The budgets are out, school is out and summer is in full swing, that means Local Editor Lauren Costa is putting her laptop down and taking some much-needed vacation time. Her vacation begins today and she will return on Tuesday, July 9. Narragansett Town Council: Tonight the Narragansett Town Council will discuss the prospect of building a memorial in memoriam of the late E. Richard Durfee, an active volunteer and business leader in the community. The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, 25 Fifth Avenue, Narragansett.
Food Truck Night: Enjoy a al truck dining on Narragansett Beach this evening. From 6 - 10 p.m. a sampling of food trucks from the area will congregate at Narragansett Town Beach for hungry passer's by. Eddie’s BBQ, Go-Spresso, Pizza by Fire, Roxy’s Lobster, Shucking Truck and Blue Lobster will be there serving food. Don't miss out on this mouth-watering good time.

Wakefield Concert Band Plays Marina Park: This 80-piece band, under the direction of Barry Liebermann, performs every Monday evening from June 24 to July 29, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bring a blanket or chair, a snack, and a friend, and enjoy the music! The concert is free and located in Marina Park just off of Salt Pond Road.
Youth Soccer Region 1 Championships Press On: The 2013 US Youth Soccer Region I (East) Championships continue on Monday, July 1. The top 256 Boys and Girls US Youth Soccer teams from Region I, including at least 14 teams from the host Soccer Rhode Island, will compete at the University of Rhode Island. The US Youth Soccer Region I Championships will feature top teams in the Under-12 through Under-19 age groups and begin on June 27, with opening ceremonies at Meade Stadium in Kingston, R.I. Round robin games will take place Friday, June 28 through Sunday, June 30, with semifinal matches Monday, July 1. The US Youth Soccer Region I Champions will be crowned following final games Tuesday, July 2.
