Mettatuxet Improvement Association Receives Legislative Grant
The association will receive $2,500, according to a state legislator.

STATE HOUSE – The Mettatuxet Improvement Association will receive a $2,500 legislative grant, Sen. James C. Sheehan (D-Dist. 36, Narragansett, North Kingstown) announced today.
The legislative funding will be used to help offset the utility costs associated with the organization’s community center.
The organization, which consists of about 150 families, is a non-profit group in Narragansett working to improve boating and quality of the Narrow River. The services include a marine for docking, lodge for rentals and special community events.

In addition to boating, the association hosts charitable fundraisers and provides meeting space at no cost to such groups as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and senior citizen organizations.
“The Mettatuxet Association is a great example of a group doing what it can to give back to the community and I am glad to help that work by securing this legislative grant," Sheehan said.
