Narragansett Police Holding Event To Teach Residents About Scams

See case studies on scams that have happened in Narragansett and how to avoid becoming a victim.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — The Narragansett Police Department will hold a seminar to help residents recognize signs of internet scams, fraud, and identity theft.

The seminar is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library at 25 Pier Market Place. Police said the seminar will cover:

  • Recognizing internet scams, fraud, and ID theft
  • Types of scams (grandparents scams, tech support scams, romance scams, etc.)
  • What to do if you or someone you know is being victimized by scams
  • Tips and tricks for dealing with scams and preventing future attempts
  • Case studies on scams that have happened in Narragansett
  • How to report scams.

The seminar is free to the public, and refreshments will be provided.
