Loud Party Leads to Six Alcohol Citations

Six were cited for alcohol violations on April 7 after police cleared a party on Davisville Lane at about 12:38 a.m.

  • Renee Butera, 20, of 902 Plains Road, South Kingstown, was cited and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor. Police said Butera is a student at the University of Rhode Island.
  • Michael Gubata, Xhoi Gjojdeshi, Bowen C. Leys, Ryan W. MacGowan and Nicholas J. Dible, all 20 and of 14 Davisville Lane, Narragansett, were cited for violating the social host provision.

According to police, they received a report of a loud party at 14 Davisville Lane. Police said loud music and voices could be heard from the street, and about 20 cars were illegally parked in the area.

Police said that while they were clearing the party, Butera attempted to leave by the back exit while carrying a bottle of Sailor Jerry rum. A background check revealed that she was not 21, and she was cited.

The renters – Gubata, Gjojdeshi, Lews, MacGowan and Dible – were cited for violating the town’s social host ordinance.

Narragansett Man Charged With Suspended License Violation

Richard S. Crowley, 34, of 1 Sea Crest Drive, Narragansett, was cited at about 8 a.m. on April 7 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer patrolling Point Judith Road clocked a white Ford F150 driven by Crowley at 59 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was made in the parking lot of the Mobil gas station.

Police said a background check revealed that Crowley’s license was suspended. Because he did not have a criminal background, police told him he would just be cited as opposed to arrested. He was also cited for speeding. A family member drove the truck and Crowley from the scene.

Narragansett Man Arrested for Warrant

Eric D. Gesualdi, 38, of 25 Buttonbush Trail, Narragansett, was arrested at about 4:55 p.m. on April 6.

Police said a Fourth Division District Court warrant was out for Gesauldi’s arrest, for failing to appear at a court hearing related to a Narragansett police disorderly conduct charge.

According to police, an officer familiar with Gesauldi from past contact saw him driving on Boston Neck Road by the Shell gas station. The officer knew there was a warrant out for his arrest, and made a traffic stop in front of Narragansett Bikes.

Police said Gesauldi was arrested without incident. A friend drove his car from the scene. Gesauldi was arraigned and released at 7:50 p.m.

URI Student: Ex-Boyfriend is Biggest Coke Dealer at University

At about 2:51 a.m. on April 6, a police dispatcher received a report from a 20-year-old University of Rhode Island student that her ex-boyfriend was “the biggest coke dealer at URI.”

Police said they responded to her location, a home on Newport Lane, to get a report. However, at that point the woman refused to cooperate and told police she “didn’t want to get anyone in trouble.” Police said the woman appeared to be heavily intoxicated.

The woman’s ex-boyfriend, a 22-year-old Narragansett man, said she was upset over their recent break-up. He told police that she would be able to stay the night without incident.

Police noted that the man had no criminal record. The report was forwarded to the detectives division.
