Narragansett Man Arrested for Domestic Assault

Timothy William Burchett, 45, of the basement apartment of 26 Brown St., Narragansett, was arrested at about 9:17 p.m. on Aug. 11 and charged with domestic assault.

According to police, they heard a disturbance coming from Brown Street, which is across from police headquarters. Police said a man walking his dog in the area told them that two men staying at 26 Brown St. had been arguing “all day” with one another.

Police said a 51-year-old Narragansett man told them that Burchett had wrestled him to the ground during a dispute over an electric bill. According to police, there were fresh human bite marks under the man’s left arm, near his chest.

Based on witness statements and the injuries to the man, Burchett was arrested and charged with domestic assault. According to police, the pair “suggested” that they were in a relationship together, and confirmed that they lived together, so the domestic modified was added to the charge.

Burchett ran for a General Assembly seat in the 2010 election as a Republican. He lost to current representative Teresa Ann Tanzi.
