Jaime L. Cafferty, 20, of 79 Frank Way, West Kingstown, was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 25 and charged with domestic disorderly conduct and domestic assault.

According to police, on Aug. 21 they received a report of an unwanted subject trying to break into a home on Wayland Trail. Police said that while en route, the caller said the person had fled in an unknown direction in an unknown vehicle.

Police said that when they arrived on scene, a 20-year-old Narragansett woman told them that Cafferty had just broke into her home and tried to fight her friend, a 21-year-old Barrington man. The woman told police that she and Cafferty had dated for six months and recently broken up.

According to the woman, Cafferty shoved his way through the front door as she was attempting to hold it shut, and threatened her friend. Both her and the friend said Cafferty was attempting to coax him outside to fight, saying, “I’ll **** you up.”

Based on the statements of the two, a 24-hour domestic assault arrest warrant was issued for Cafferty’s arrest. This was modified to a court warrant on Aug. 23.

Police said that on Aug. 25, they received a phone call from an attorney stating that Cafferty would turn himself in at Fourth Division District Court that day. He did so and was arraigned at court, and issued a pre-trial date of Sept. 13.

Police said Cafferty then reported to Washington County Superior Court, because the arrest was a violation of his probation.

According to online court records, Cafferty pleaded no contest in December 2010 to a South Kingstown police charge of felony conspiracy. A said that, according to court documents, Cafferty and three other people beat up and robbed a man in Tuckertown.

Cafferty was ordered to serve a five-year suspended sentence and five years probation. A violation hearing is scheduled for Sept. 13 as a result of his new misdemeanor charge.
