North Scituate Man Attempts to Blame Roommate for Marijuana Smell in Car
Nicholas J. Depalma, 23, of 37 Silvo Drive, North Scituate, was arrested at about 2:17 a.m. on Aug. 30 and charged with possession of marijuana.
According to police, an officer patrolling on Point Judith Road saw a gold Toyota with a passenger side headlight out. A traffic stop was made on Point Judith Road near Westlakes Garage.

Police said the operator, Depalma, said he was lost and trying to find his way back to Providence. According to police, while talking to Depalma they could smell burnt marijuana coming from the inside of the car.
Depalma told police that his roommate sometimes borrows his car, and blamed him for the smell. Police asked Depalma to exit the vehicle and conducted a search.

According to police, a small bag of marijuana was found under the driver’s seat, along with a glass pipe. Police confiscated the marijuana and discarded the pipe.
Depalma was arrested without incident and transported to police headquarters. He was arraigned, released at 2:40 a.m. and issued a Sept. 6 date for Fourth Division District Court. Depalma was also issued a summons for the headlight violation. A passenger in the car was allowed to drive it from the scene.
Wakefield Woman Arrested for Possession of Marijuana
Molly C. Sullivan, 21, of 229 Saugatucket Road, Wakefield, was arrested at about 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 31 and charged with possession of marijuana.
According to police, about 30 minutes earlier they responded to the intersection of Palm Beach Avenue and Point Judith Avenue after receiving a report of an accident. Police said that one of the cars, a blue Volkswagen Beetle driven by Sullivan, was on Riviera Drive.
According to police, they asked Sullivan for her license and registration, and she said it was in the car. Police said that Sullivan and a passenger both said they did not hve any injuries. Police noted that Sullivan appeared visibly upset, and she instead gave them permission to search her car for her license and registration.
Police said that they lifted the center console and immediately saw a small plastic baggie of marijuana. When asked about the baggie, Sullivan told police it was her marijuana.
Sullivan was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was arraigned and released later that morning, and issued a Sept. 13 date for Fourth Division District Court.

South Kingstown Police Arrest Narragansett Teen
Two area youths were arrested on Aug. 30 at about 4 p.m. for possession of marijuana and underage possession of alcohol after a South Kingstown police officer made a traffic stop for an overloaded car on Kingstown Road.
Police searched the two juveniles and allegedly found marijuana and several bottles of alcohol.
Police arrested a 16-year-old Narragansett male for possession of the marijuana and a 17-year-old North Kingstown male for possession of alcohol.
