Narragansett Police Log: August 4, 2011

Scituate Man Charged With Receiving Stolen Goods
Matthew B. Gillen, 21, of 192 Trout Brooke Lane, Apt. #128, Scituate, was arrested at about 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 4 on a charge of receiving stolen goods worth less than $500.
According to police, an officer on patrol on Angell Road near Ocean Road saw a man, later identified as Gillen, carrying a bottle of Bacardi rum in one hand and a two to three-inch lighthouse lawn ornament in the other.

When asked where he got the ornament from, police said that Gillen told them from a house on Angell Road. Police said the homeowners, a 78-year-old Narragansett man and a 73-year-old Narragansett woman, told them that Gillen did not have permission to remove the ornament.
Gillen was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property. Police said the ornament was returned to the residents.

Narragansett Man Arrested by SK Police on Domestic Charges
Scott Christopher Mulligan, 47, of 268 Kingstown Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 4:17 p.m. on Aug. 4 on charges of domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
According to South Kingstown police reports, an officer was dispatched for a reported domestic assault on the side of the highway near Jerry Brown Farm Road.
Police arrived on the scene and were met with a female victim who told them that while she was driving a car, her boyfriend had assaulted her, in front of her juvenile sister. The woman then pulled abruptly on to Route 1 southbound, at which point the male subject left on foot.
Police canvassed the area and located Mulligan walking along the highway by Jerry Brown Farm Road. He was taken into police custody and charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
No Beer, But Plastic Geese and Wanted Man
Stefan L. Hazard, 27, of 262 Saugatucket Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 9:28 p.m. on Aug 4 for a Fourth Division District Court warrant.
According to police, they received a report of people drinking and playing loud music near some plastic geese on the seawall. Police said when they arrived, there were no open containers, but the plastic geese remained.
Police said they did a background check of the four men there, which revealed a warrant for Hazard’s arrest. He was arrested without incident and transported to the ACI at 11 p.m.
