Narragansett Police Log: December 31, 2011
Police deal with a suspended license arrest and a felony warrant.

Warwick Man Arrested for Suspended License
Daniel M. McKay, 46, of 128 Stetson St., Warwick, was arrested at about 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer patrolling on Point Judith Road near Foddering Farm Road noted that the rear plate on a black Ford Explorer was unreadable, and looked damaged. A traffic stop was made.
Police said a background check of the driver, McKay, revealed that his license had been suspended on Dec. 26 for not appearing at a court hearing related to a charge of operating an unregistered motor vehicle on Oct. 4.

McKay was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was released at 8:59 p.m. with a summons for Jan. 10.
Narragansett Man Arrested for North Kingstown Felony Warrant
Michael J. Barney, 25, of 21 Sassafras Trail, Narragansett, was arrested at about 4:16 p.m. on Dec. 31. According to police, there was a warrant from North Kingstown police for Barney’s arrest.
Police said an officer patrolling on Point Judith Road noted a car with a rear brake light out. The officer ran the car’s registration, and the check revealed that the car’s owner – Barney – had a warrant out for his arrest.
According to police, they made a traffic stop and confirmed that the driver was Barney. He was arrested without incident and held until North Kingstown police picked him up at 5 p.m.
According to the Rhode Island Judiciary criminal database, North Kingstown police charged Barney in October 2011 with felony larceny, felony conspiracy and willful trespassing.
