Daysun Eric Alejandro, 38, of 268 Kingstown Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 11:23 a.m. on July 16 on charges of domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

Police said that while they were interviewing the woman, Alejandro called her several times. Police attempted to talk to him, but he claimed that he was driving up to Providence, passing by SSTAR in North Kingstown. However, police noted that there was no background noise in the call, and still believed him to be at the Galilee Mission.

According to police, at about 7 a.m. they went to the Galilee Mission to check for Alejandro. They noted that three of his roommates were uncooperative, but they did locate his torn grey sweatshirt. The roommates had given police permission to search the back residence of the Mission, where the sweatshirt was found.

An employee of the Mission did not give police permission to search the front residence of the Mission. He said that he had searched it and Alejandro was not there.

When police called Alejandro’s cell phone from a taped line at the station at 7:30 a.m., he again stated that he was in Providence. However, he then added that he knew police had taken his sweatshirt, which signified to police that he had not left Narragansett.

Police said at 7:45 a.m., they called Alejandro’s parole officer, in an attempt to get him to turn himself in. A statewide bulletin was issued.

At about 10:30 a.m., a patrolman at the Salt Pond Plaza observed a man matching Alejandro’s description walking toward the bus stop near Stop and Shop. The patrolman said he radioed for back-up, but at that time, a RIPTA bus pulled up. The patrolman said that he pulled up behind the bus, at which point Alejandro immediately walked into Stop and Shop, away from the officer.

According to police, based on surveillance footage and interviews with employees at other businesses, they determined that Alejandro had gone into the east entrance of Stop and Shop, out the west entrance, and into several other stores in the Salt Pond Plaza in the next 15 minutes. He then double backed to the RIPTA bus, where he was arrested without incident by police.
