Narragansett Police Log: March 2, 3 and 4, 2012

According to police, a Connecticut man is arrested following a dispute with a bartender at Charlie O's over a $4 tab.

Connecticut Man Charged With Disorderly Conduct Over $4 Bar Bill

Adam J. Desjardins, 22, of 31 Tennessee Ave., Wallingford, CT, was arrested at about 1:03 a.m. on March 4 and charged with disorderly conduct.

According to police, while clearing Charlie O’s for the night, they heard a commotion coming from inside. Police said as they approached the door, staff were escorting Desjardins out, who smelled of alcohol and screamed obscenities at the bouncers.

Police said that a bartender – a 29-year-old woman – told them that Desjardins threw a drink in her face. The bartender told police that the dispute was over a $4 bar bill that Desjardins refused to pay.

Desjardins was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Police said he was uncooperative and refused to answer any questions about the incident. He was released at 4:14 a.m.

URI Student Cited for Transportation of Alcohol by a Minor

[Name Withheld], 19, of Kingston, was cited at about 1:56 a.m. on March and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor.

According to police, a traffic stop was made on Point Judith Road near Bill Sweet Drive after an officer noted a light out on a silver Volkswagon station wagon driven by [Name Withheld].

Police said that during the traffic stop, an odor of marijuana could be detected. When asked if he had any marijuana on him, [Name Withheld] allegedly told police, “I smoke weed but I don’t have any on me now, go ahead and take a look.” He also denied having any alcohol in the car.

Another officer arrived on scene to help search that car. At that point, police said [Name Withheld] seemed to get more nervous and allegedly told them, “Sir you are really not going to find anything.”

Police said when they searched the car, a bottle of Burnett’s vodka was by the passenger side seat. When asked about the alcohol, [Name Withheld] told police, “That’s mine, I’m sorry for lying officer.”

Police also found two marijuana grinders and a smoking pipe, but no marijuana. The smoking instruments and alcohol were seized and destroyed.

[Name Withheld] was cited for transportation of alcohol by a minor and for driving without a properly working headlight. He was allowed to drive from the scene.

Westerly Man Cited for Underage Alcohol Possession

Jamie F. Algier, 20, of 5 Gilleo Drive, Westerly, was cited at about 1:25 a.m. on March 3 and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.

According to police, an officer patrolling near Clam Jammers saw a man, later identified as Algier, holding a clear glass bottle with a green cap. Police identified the bottle as a Burnett’s vodka.

When asked about the bottle, Algier said it contained alcohol. He was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor, and the bottle was confiscated and destroyed. Algier was allowed to drive from the scene.

No Box, Just Wine – UMass-Amherst Student Cited for Underage Alcohol Possession

Alexander Bertucci Hoehn, 19, of 314 Lincoln Ave., Amherst, MA, was cited at about 2 a.m. on March 4 and charged with underage possession of alcohol. Police said Hoehn is a student at the University of Massachusetts’ Amherst campus.

According to police, while on the way to investigate a loud party complaint at a South Pier Road home, they noted a small group of people walking near the intersection of South Pier and Boon Street.

Police said one of the men in the group, later identified as Hoehn, was carrying a clear bag with a spout, and inside the bag was a pink liquid. When asked what was in the bag, Hoehn told police it was wine.

A check of Hoehn’s ID revealed that he was not 21, and the alcohol was confiscated. Hoehn was cited for underage possession of alcohol.

Regular Guy, Not Rolling Stone, Cited for Disorderly Conduct

Keith B. Richards, 31, of 69 Circuit Drive, Narragansett, was cited at about 11:30 a.m. on March 2 and charged with disorderly conduct.

According to police, an employee at Narragansett Elementary School said that Richards had screamed profanities in earshot of several children after being told to move his truck from a no-parking zone.

Police said when questioned, Richards admitted getting into an argument with the woman, but denied using any profanities. He was cited for disorderly conduct.

Police Break Up 250 Person Party on Kingstown Road

At about midnight on March 3, police received a report of a loud party at 338 Kingstown Road.

Police said about 250 people were at the home, with loud yelling, music and talking coming from the back deck and inside. Police said cars were illegally parked on both sides of the street.

The renters were identified as Trevor J. Gillen, Anthony R. Tedeschi and Gregory P. Argeros, all 21. Police said all three read and signed the public nuisance form, and helped to clear the party without further incidents.
