Narragansett Police Log: March 31 and April 1, 2012

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the Narragansett Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

URI Student Cited for Transportation of Alcohol by a Minor

Marissa C. Milner, 19, of 36 Desano Drive, Narragansett, was cited at about 8:36 p.m. on March 31 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor. Police said Milner is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, an officer patrolling on Knowlesway observed a gray Saab driven by Milner without a rear plate light. A traffic stop was made near Frances Avenue.

Police said during the stop, two bottles of vodka were visible near the feet of a passenger, a 21-year-old Narragansett woman. The alcohol was confiscated and disposed of, and Milner was cited.

(Different) URI Student Cited for Transportation of Alcohol by a Minor

Casey M. Harrington, 18, of 65 Houston Ave., Newport, was cited at about 1:37 a.m. on April 1 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor. Police said Harrington is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, an officer patrolling on Boston Neck Road saw a tan Buick with a defective rear plate light. A traffic stop was made near the Narragansett Driving Range.

Police said the car smelled of marijuana, and asked Harrington – the driver – if he had any. Harrington told police that this was his friend’s car and he didn’t, and two passengers also denied having any marijuana.

According to police, they attempted to run background checks on Harrington and the two passengers, a 19-year-old man from Newport and an 18-year-old man from Newport. However, the 19-year-old had provided police with a false name. Police asked for his correct name, which was also negative for warrants.

Police said a search of the car revealed a marijuana grinder with only trace amounts, a double-edged knife with a brass knuckle style handle, and a bottle of Bud Light Platinum beer.

The 19-year-old man told police the beer was his, but Harrington and the two passengers denied owning the marijuana grinder and the knife. Harrington was cited for transportation of alcohol by a minor and allowed to drive from the scene.

The marijuana grinder, knife and beer bottle were all confiscated.

Police Deal With One Uncooperative Party on Summit Road…

At about midnight on March 31 to April 1, police received a report of a loud party at 35 Summit Road.

Police said when they arrived at the home, they noted about eight to 10 cars parked in the street, with an additional eight cars parked on the front lawn of the home. Police said loud voices and music were immediately noticeable from the home.

According to police, an officer knocked on a side door for about two minutes, trying to get a tenant to open it. The officer said that the people inside were yelling to not open the door. Police noted that all of the windows of the home were blacked out because black trash bags were taped over them.

Police said one of the tenants was found in the backyard, and she was able to gain access to the house via a rear door, at which point the party was cleared of about 70 to 80 people. According to police, four cars were cited for illegal parking after the party was cleared.

The tenants were identified as Jennifer A. Beal and Katherine E. Perdisatt, 21.

… And Another Uncooperative Party on Summit Road

At about 1:04 a.m. on March 31, police received a report of a loud party at 2 Summit Road.

According to police, there were more than 100 people at the party when they arrived, along with multiple cars parked illegally, which were all cited. Police said bottles and cans were strewn across the yard and street in front of the home.

Police said the renters were unhelpful in clearing the home, and “uncooperative and argumentative and refused to sign [the] nuisance form.”

The tenants were identified as Samuel J. Ledversis, Josua A. Correnti-Wood and Dalton Frederick, all 21.

Party Cleared Without Incident on Bristol Road

At about 12:13 a.m. on March 31, police received a report of a loud party at 24 Bristol Road.

According to police, there were about 100 people at the party when they arrived, but the renters cleared the scene quickly and without incident. Police said loud music could be heard about 300 feet away from the home.

The tenants were identified as Matthew B. Flotard, 21, John P. Kelley, 20, and Michael C. Marti, 20.
