Narragansett Police Log: October 14, 2011
Police break up three different parties, which results in one arrest, for a man throwing beer bottles at a nearby house.

Trio of Loud Parties Broken Up
On Oct. 14, police received reports of three different loud parties.

- At about 1:31 a.m., police were called to 10 Melville Lane. According to police, a caller at a home on Newport Lane told them that a man was throwing beer bottles at his home.
Police said that at 10 Melville, there were about 10 to 15 people gathered on a back deck. Police spoke with the renters, who told them that they suspected it was someone they didn’t know who had left the house earlier.

The next day, police re-interviewed the initial caller. He said that while there was no discernable damage to his home, he had spent the morning cleaning broken glass from his driveway.
Later in the day, police received a call from Aaron B. Shatkin, 20. According to police, he asked them about the incident at Newport Lane. When police asked if he was the one who threw the bottles, they said he asked if there had been any damage.
Shatkin then asked police if he would be arrested. They told him probably. He turned himself in at about 2:28 p.m., and he was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor. Further details of his arrest were unavailable.
- At about 11:57 p.m., police were called to 95 Sarasota Avenue. According to police, about 75 to 100 people were gathered, and loud music and voices could be heard several houses away.
Police said that none of the renters or people present were 21, and that there were empty alcohol containers, but no one was drinking when they arrived. They noted that the yard was littered with empty cups and cans.
According to police, the renters were cooperative and the party was dispersed quickly. The renters were identified as 20-year-old Jenna L. Ernst, and 19-year-olds Nikole L. Calvo, Lauren Blakeley, Stephanie R. Cook and Michelle G. David. The property is managed by Durkin Realty.
- At about 11:48 p.m., police received a report of a party at 49 Saint James Road. According to a dispatcher, the caller, from a nearby home, stated that a drunk partygoer had attempted to enter their house instead.
According to police, about 100 to 125 people were at the party. Police said traffic was obstructed throughout the area as the parked cleared, and cars were parked illegally throughout the neighborhood.
Police said that while there were numerous empty cans and bottles in the house and the yard, no one was holding alcohol when they arrived. They also noted that a nearby mailbox had been uprooted from the ground.
The renters were identified as 20-year-olds Jonathan P. Simpkins and Sidney A. Griffin. The home is owned by Gregory Palumbo, according to police.
