Narragansett Police Log: October 15, 2011

Pair of URI Students Cited for Possession of Kegs, Multiple Party Violations

A pair of University of Rhode Island students were cited for social host violations after police responded to their home at about 7:33 p.m. on Oct. 15.

According to police, they received a report of two motorcycles chasing a cranberry-colored Altima on the Knowlesway Extension near Kingston Pizza.

Police said that when they went to Kingston Pizza, the vehicles were gone, but they saw a car and motorcycle matching the caller’s description in the driveway of 220 Knowlesway.

Police noted that about 25 to 30 vehicles were parked in the yard, the home already had a red nuisance sticker, and empty cans of beer and cups were strewn about the yard.

According to police, they made contact with the renters, 19-year-olds John P. Albanese and Jacob C. Lombardi. Police said both smelled of alcohol.

Police said that Lombardi told them that he had no idea who owned the motorcycle, that he didn’t invite any of the people at his house over, and that he couldn’t get any of them to leave. Police noted that there were two kegs visible on the rear patio.

According to police, as they cleared the party, guests yelled, “**** the Narragansett police!” and “**** the cops!” Because they were clearing the party, police were unable to identify the drivers of the motorcycle or the car.

Albanese and Lombardi were cited for violating the public nuisance statute, possession of alcohol by a minor and for lacking a proper keg permit. The kegs were seized by police. The owner was identified by police as Mary Kitz, and the case was also forwarded to community policing for further review.

Because of the large field adjacent to the property and its ample parking, Narragansett police have been involved with past residents of 220 Knowlesway at least four other times in the past year:

• Police cleared being held by Edward J. Essa, noting that the house already have a nuisance sticker on it.
• Ryan Cowen was accused of from a Boon Street restaurant.
• Cowen and Essa were both involved in .
• Jorge Cornielle, a resident, was cited earlier this year for .

The property owners are listed as David and Mary Kitzes of Providence. The building is valued at $275,200, and the land at $953,300.

Narragansett Woman Charged After Alleged Drunk Shopping Spree in NK

According to , Belinda Sue Sidelinger, 51, of 6 Twinleaf Trail in Narragansett, was arrested in North Kingstown at about 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 15 on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

North Kingstown police arrived at Consignments Goods on Post Road for a report of an intoxicated woman at the store. According to the store’s owner, Sidelinger was obviously drunk and was dancing around, then began to curse and act inappropriately toward other customers.

When officers arrived, they found Sidelinger standing in the aisle, reportedly slurring her words and speaking loudly to two other women. Sidelinger allegedly ran out the store’s front door when she saw officers, hiding between two cars in the parking lot.

When an officer approached Sidelinger in the parking lot, she reportedly told him, “I don’t have anything, baby doll” and added that she was lost because she wanted to be lost.

According to police, Sidelinger refused to provide identification and kept trying to walk toward the street, trying to push officers out of the way. When she was unable to pass by officers, Sidelinger allegedly threw her purse to the ground and screamed that she didn’t need to talk to the police, before digging through the purse and throwing items to the ground. According to reports, she handed a BJ’s card to an officer with her name on it.

Officers allegedly had to tell Sidelinger repeatedly not to touch or push them. After an officer told her she would be arrested if she touched them again, Sidelinger allegedly threw her purse down again and started to run away.

Officers then arrested Sidelinger and transported her to the ACI as a bail violator. The North Kingstown Police Department also issued a no trespass order to Sidelinger for Consignment Goods.

CCRI Student Arrested for Assault, Disorderly Conduct Charges

Ryan D. Murphy, 20, of 205 Sunnybrook Farm Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 2:33 a.m. on Oct. 15 and charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended license. Police said Murphy is a student at the Community College of Rhode Island.

According to police, they received a report of a fight in the Mariner Grille parking lot. When they arrived, they noted that one of the cars leaving matched the description of the suspect’s car, and made a traffic stop on Point Judith Road in front of New Dragon.

Police said that Murphy told them that he had gotten into an argument with his ex-girlfriend at the bar, and that three men had told him he had leave. One of the men was the current boyfriend of his ex, and an employee at the bar.

Murphy told police that he returned 15 to 20 minutes later with five of his friends. He said he came back with them because he thought the three men were trying to intimidate him into a 3-on-1 fight.

According to police, Murphy then told them that he started a fistfight with the victim, a 20-year-old Wakefield man, striking him several times before leaving.

Police said statements from the victim and Murphy’s ex-girlfriend corroborated his statement. He was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct. A background check also revealed that his license was suspended, and he was also charged with driving with a suspended license.

Loud Party Complaints

- At about 12:21 a.m. on Oct. 15, police received a complaint of a loud party at 9 Alexander Drive.

Police said about 50 to 75 people were gathered at the home, with loud voices coming from the rear deck and the basement. They said that blue plastic cups littered the yard and neighboring yards as well.

According to police, the party was quickly dispersed with the help of the tenants. They were identified as 19-year-olds Greg M. Meyers and Peter T. Ranere. The property is managed by Ann O’Brien Realty.

- At about 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 15, police received a complaint of a loud party at 55 Bristol Road.

Police said about 40 to 50 people were gathered at the home, with 15 cars parked on the sides of the road. According to police, plastic cups and empty bottles were in the front yard and the street.

According to police, the party was broken up without incident. The tenant was identified as University of Rhode Island student Christopher W. Coons, 20. The property owner is 55 Bristol Road, LLC.
