Narragansett Police Log: Oct. 17 and 18, 2010

A University of Rhode Island student is accused of taking jewelry from a family member, and another student is cited for an expired license.

URI Student Arrested for Felony Larceny

Andrew P. Wagenfeld, 23, of 30 Indian Trail, a University of Rhode Island student, was charged at about 2:50 p.m. on Oct. 18 with larceny greater than $500, a felony.

The previous day, a family member told police she suspected Wagenfeld had stolen gold jewelry from a family safe. She filed a complaint.

Police said on Oct. 18, Wagenfeld turned himself in, with the family member present. He told police that he sold the gold for money so he could “go out, buy gifts, drinks and medical marijuana.”

Wagenfeld was arrested and transported to Fourth Division District Court for arraignment.

URI Student Cited for Expired License

Andrew L. Tetzlaff, 21, of 100 Bridgetown Road, was cited at about 9:25 p.m. on Oct. 17 with driving with an expired license. Police said he is a University of Rhode Island student.

According to police, an officer made a traffic stop on Point Judith Road after clocking a car driven by Tetzlaff at 50 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. A background check allegedly revealed that his license expired on Oct. 1.

He was cited for the violation. A New York resident was allowed to drive the car from the scene.
