Out-Of-Towners Sully Up Motel Room
At about 12:54 p.m. on Sept. 1, police received a report of a couple who had trashed a motel room.
According to a 22-year-old clerk at the motel, the couple – a 54-year-old Cranston man and a 41-year-old North Kingstown woman – had severely damaged their room during a stay. The clerk told police that the woman also appeared to be heavily intoxicated and refused to leave the room, and that the man staying with her was at the bus stop.

South Kingstown Police Detain Narragansett Summer Residents Over Guns
Two intoxicated men were barred from driving home by South Kingstown Police officers after mistakenly reporting one of their cars stolen – with four firearms inside.
At about 8 p.m. on Sept. 2, police were alerted to be on the lookout for an allegedly erratic operator on Matunuck Beach Road near the Ocean Mist. Police arrived on scene and discovered the suspect vehicle parked on the side of the road.
Soon after they were flagged down by an allegedly intoxicated patron and his brother reporting that one of their cars – containing three rifles and a shotgun – had been stolen. Police canvassed the area and later discovered the car parked at the Matunuck Oyster Bar on Succotash Road.
It was at that time that the subject remembered he and his brother had left a vehicle in the restaurant parking lot earlier that evening.
After being driven to the Oyster Bar to identify their car, the two subjects were relieved of their keys and given a ride to their summer home in Narragansett. The long guns were seized for the weekend and placed in an evidence locker until being picked up on Monday by their owners.
