The Case of the Magically Appearing Keg

According to police, a 20-year-old University of Rhode Island student was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor after they received a complaint about underage drinking at 66 Sakonnet Boulevard.

Police said that at 9:06 p.m., they received a call from the owner of the home. He told police that a neighbor had called him and said the tenants of the home were bringing in a keg. The owner said that he knew none of them were 21.

According to police, when they arrived they spoke with the tenants – Eric R. Goldberg, Rigo E. Orellana, Omar A. Tazi, Zachary B. Underwood and Zane E. Legault, all 20 – and confirmed that none of them were 21. According to online records, all but Underwood are URI students.

Police said when they asked if there was a keg at the home, the renters said yes, but they did not know how it arrived. The keg was confiscated and transported to police headquarters.

After additional questioning, Legault said the keg was his, and he was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor.

However, police were called back to the home at 11 p.m. after receiving a report of a loud party. According to police, about 20 people were present, and the party was quickly dispersed.

About 30 minutes later, police were called to the house for a third time, for a verbal argument between the initial callers – a Narragansett couple on Hope Lane – and the tenants. All parties were issued no-trespass orders for each other’s property.
