North Kingstown Woman Provides False Info to 911
Suzanne Wirth, 41, of 9 Meadowland Drive, North Kingstown, was arrested at about 4:28 a.m. on Sept. 29 and charged with falsely reporting a crime.
According to police, at about 3:50 a.m. a dispatcher received a report from Wirth that a 63-year-old man was at a Wayland Trail home with a knife.
Police said when they arrived, they met with Wirth, who again told them that the 63-year-old man was in the kitchen with a knife. Police found the man and detained him, but noted that he did not have a knife.
According to police, they separated the two for questioning. Police said Wirth smelled of alcohol, and also appeared to have dilated pupils. She told police that the man had grabbed her arm during an argument, then grabbed a switchblade knife and threatened to stab her.
However, the man told police that there had been no physical confrontation. According to the man, the two had been arguing because Wirth had spilled water on the floor and then refused to clean it up.
The man told police that he asked Wirth to leave his house at this point, and thought she was going out on the porch to arrange a ride – not to call 911. The man’s story was corroborated by a family member who was in the room at the time.
Police said that Wirth continually changed her story under questioning, and that she showed no signs of injury. According to the man, she had been drinking and taking Oxycodone pills most of the day.
Based on the evidence at the scene and the witness statements, Wirth was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Police said a background check revealed that Whelan’s license was suspended. He was placed into custody. Police noted that there was a child in the car at the time. Arrangements were made to allow a friend to watch the child while Whelan was processed at police headquarters.
