Narragansett Police Log: September 5, 2011

URI Student Arrested for Suspended License

Darrell S.R. Dulany, 22, of 39 Joy Lane, Narragansett, was arrested at about 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 5 and charged with driving with a suspended license. Police identified him as a University of Rhode Island student.

According to police, an officer observing traffic on Point Judith Road clocked a black Bonneville driven by Dulany at 63 miles per hour in 45 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was made.

Police said that a background check revealed that Dulany’s Pennsylvania driver’s license was suspended. He was transported to police headquarters for processing, issued a citation and released. He is scheduled to appear in Fourth Division District Court on Sept. 20.

Dulany is a member of the URI football squad. He led the Rams with nine tackles against Syracuse this weekend.

Vending Machines Robbed on Point Judith Road

At about 4:20 p.m. on Sept. 5, police received a report of several vending machines being broken into on Point Judith Road.

According to an employee of Schwabby’s Wine and Spirits, at some point between 7 p.m. on Sept. 4 and 6 a.m. on Sept. 5, someone broke into two soda machines at the front of the business. The estimated loss was about $30.

Security footage of the crime was unavailable. The case remains under investigation.
