Narragansett's Town Manager found Dead at Home

NARRAGANSETT, RI—Pamela Nolan, Narragansett’s town manager, has died.

Nolan was found dead in her home Tuesday.

She was 66.

Narragansett police said in a press release her death was due to natural causes.

“It is with deep sadness that the Town of Narragansett announces that passing of its Town Manager, Pamela Nolan,” the release stated. “Manager Nolan was hired on October 15, 2013 and served the town proudly. She was a dedicated public servant and will be missed.”

Nolan came to Narragansett in 2013 after leading the town of Seekonk, Mass. Before that, she served in manager and administrator roles for the towns of Westerly and Truro and Plymouth, Mass.

In an interview with the Patch after her appointment to the manager’s job in 2013, Nolan said that “It’s not my first rodeo,” she said. “I come with a lot of experience, I’ve worked in Rhode Island and I did get the vote of every member of the Town Council, so that’s impressive. I know I can do a good job.”

Every job is a craft and for Nolan, her approach was “defend the taxpayer.”

“They pay their taxes and deserve good services,” she said. “They expect us to do our job, do it well and keep taxes down.”

Nolan said she was happy to be coming to the seaside town of Narragansett. She described it as the pinnacle of her career.

“It felt like it would be going home again. It felt good. It felt right,” she said.

The Town Council has scheduled a special meeting on Wednesday to appoint Town Engineer Jeffry Ceasrine as Acting Town Manager.

Ceasrine has served as acting Town Manager numerous times over the years.
