Obituary: Aileen B. Capalbo, 76

Aileen B. Capalbo, 76, a Wakefield resident for over 50 years, passed away Wednesday, January 6th with her husband and son by her side.

Aileen B. Capalbo, 76, a Wakefield resident for over 50 years, passed away Wednesday, January 6th with her husband and son by her side. She was the beloved wife of Domenic F. Capalbo, Jr. for 49 years.

Born in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Josephine E. (Happenny) Burke. She was a graduate of Cumberland High School and the University of Rhode Island. Mrs. Capalbo was a retired English Teacher and a former employee of Stop & Shop Supermarket. She was a member of the Seaside Bridge Group, and enjoyed reading, watching Broadway shows, and traveling.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son and his wife, David E. and Gina Capalbo, and their children, Antonio and Maria, all of Wakefield; two sisters, Rita Goucher of Lincoln and Margaret Doris of Cumberland; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Catherine Burke, George Burke, Elizabeth Goucher, and Mary Dolores Hayes.

The funeral will be 9 am Saturday from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are Friday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, South Team, 143 Main Street, Wakefield, RI 02879 or to a charity of one’s choice.
