Police: Suspected Drug Dealer Arrested In Peace Dale

Arrest was part of a cooperative investigation with Narragansett Police.

South Kingstown Police stated in a press release issued Thursday morning that they have arrested a local man for suspected distribution of illegal drugs after an investigation in cooperation with the Narragansett Police Department

"The South Kingstown Police Department developed information that a 26-year-old resident named Howard “Bobby” Courtemanche had been actively dealing narcotics," said South Kingstown Detective-Sergeant Joel Ewing-Chow in the release. Police records indicate that Courtemanche is currently a resident of 315 High Street in South Kingstown

On Tuesday, August 16, members of the South Kingstown and Narragansett Police Departments arrested Courtemanche for cocaine possession while in his vehicle on High Street in Peace Dale.

"Further investigation into Courtemanche led police to a residence where more powder cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone, digital scales, and packaging materials were located," read the release. "Courtemanche was subsequently charged with (2) two counts of Delivery of Cocaine, Distribution of a Controlled Substance Near a School, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Operating on a Suspended License.  Also seized as part of this arrest was approximately $400.00 in cash."

Courtemanche was held overnight and arraigned at Washington County District Court.  He is currently being held without bail.
