Rhode Island Breaks Temperature Record Ahead Of Winter Storm

PROVIDENCE, RI — Up to a foot of snow is in the forecast for the end of the week, but you wouldn't know based on Wednesday's weather. Providence shattered its temperature record for the day with a high of 67.

The Ocean State wasn't the only area in the region to see unseasonable, springlike warmth. Boston and Worcester also broke records set in 2017, while Hartford, Connecticut topped out at 71 degrees, three degrees warmer than the previous record from 1990.

The warm weather isn't here to stay. Temperatures will drop precipitously by Wednesday night, ahead of a winter storm on Friday. Snow will move in late Thursday night, making for a messy commute Friday morning. While snow totals are still unclear at this point, parts of the region could see up to afoot of accumulation.
