RI Power Outages: Another Cold Dark Night For 23,000 Households

National Grid crews continue working to restore service, but the governor wants a review of the company's preparedness and response.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI— National Grid crews continued working on Wednesday to restore service, but the governor wants a review of the company's disaster preparedness and response, her office said. Gov. Gina Raimondo has ordered the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers Administrator Macky McCleary to investigate what happened "ahead of and following this week's wind and rain storm." The company said more than 155,000 Rhode Island households went dark.

By Wednesday night at 10, 22, 091 were still waiting for the electricity to come back. Over 300 crews were on the job and would be working through the night, National Grid said. North Kingstown was reporting 1,819 still in the dark. South Kingstown (1,333 ), Coventry (1, 322) were also among the communities waiting for power.

No Rhode Island schools were reporting closings as of 10 p.m. Wednesday. Patch will check in the morning for updates.
