RI State Beaches Hiring Lifeguards For Summer

Any new lifeguards hired by June 27 are eligible to receive a $500 sign-on bonus, as long as they stay in good standing.

RHODE ISLAND — With the weather starting to warm up, state beaches have started opening — and that means lifeguards are needed.

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is still looking for lifeguards for the summer. Job openings are listed on the DEM’s website.

Pay for lifeguards ranges from $18.75 to 20 an hour. DEM officials said compensation is based on location, experience, and position.

Any new lifeguards hired by June 27 are eligible to receive a $500 sign-on bonus. To receive the bonus, new lifeguards must remain in good standing, not take more than five unapproved days off, and remain employed through Sept. 1.

All lifeguards must receive a state certification. They must also hold valid cards in lifeguard training, first aid, and CPR for all ages.
