The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has released the following notes for the next week about various traffic areas in the state.

South County

Weekend

Charlestown/South Kingstown: Rte. 1A (Post Rd./Old Post Rd.) NB& SB, from Old Shannock Rd. to King Tom Dr., alternating lane closures for construction, Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Weekday

Westerly: Dunn’s Corner Rd. NB & SB, from Rte. 1 (Post Rd.) to Rte. 91 (Bradford Rd.), alternating lane closures for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Charlestown/South Kingstown: Rte. 1A (Post Rd./Old Post Rd.) NB& SB, from Old Shannock Rd. to King Tom Dr., alternating lane closures for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Interstate Highway Restrictions

Temporary Closure on I-95 North

Pawtucket: I-95 NB, between Exit 27 (Downtown) and Exit 28 (School St.), will be closed to traffic for overhead sign removal Monday from midnight to 4 a.m. Signed detour in place.

Overnight

East Greenwich/West Greenwich/West Warwick: I-95 NB, from the Weaver Hill Rd. Bridge to Exit 8 (Rte. 2), alternating lane closures for milling and paving operations, Sunday-Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. At least one lane will remain open. Drivers also should expect exit closures for paving. Only one exit will be closed at a time. • Sunday: I-95 NB, right lane and shoulder closed for paving. There also will be temporary closures of Exit 6 and Exit 6A.

Pawtucket: I-95 NB & SB, from Exit 27 (Downtown) to Exit 28 (School St.), alternating lane closures for bridge construction, Sunday-Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The left or right lane will be closed at 9 p.m. and the middle lane will be closed at 11 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m.

Pawtucket/Providence: I-95 NB & SB, from Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.) to Exit 29 (Broadway), left lane closed for construction, Tuesday-Thursday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Work will take place in the following areas:

• Providence: Thurbers Ave. underpass to the Eddy St. overpass.

• Pawtucket: Lonsdale Ave. underpass to the Slater St. overpass

Providence: I-95 NB & SB, at the Rte. 146 interchange, alternating lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Weekday

Cumberland/Lincoln: I-295 SB, just south of Exit 10 (Rte. 122/Mendon Rd.), right lane and shoulder closed for survey work, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

East Providence: The East Shore Expressway Bridge over Warren Avenue (Exit 7 off of I-195 EB) is posted for use by vehicles under 17 tons. Detours required for heavier vehicles.

Pawtucket: I-95 NB Exit 28 (School St.) is closed until early November 2011 for construction. Detour routes have been established using Exit 27 (Downtown) and Exit 29 (Broadway/Cottage St.). Detailed information, including detour maps, is available at www.dot.ri.gov.

Pawtucket: I-95 between Exits 27 (Downtown) and 28 (School St.) posted for use by vehicles of less than 18 tons. Detours required for heavier vehicles.

Warwick/West Warwick: I-95 NB & SB at Exit 8 (Rte. 2), lanes shifted to the left. Use caution entering and exiting.

Cranston/Johnston/Providence: Rte. 6 EB & WB, Rte. 10 NB & SB, and the Rte. 6/Rte. 10 Connector, from Park Ave. in Cranston to the I-95 and I-295 interchanges, alternating lane and shoulder closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Friday from midnight to 6 a.m.

Various locations: Rte. 146 NB & SB, from the I-95 interchange to the Massachusetts state line, alternating lane and shoulder closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Friday from midnight to 6 a.m.

Providence: Rte. 10 NB & SB, from the Westminster St. overpass to the Cranston St. Bridge, alternating lane closures for paving, Sunday-Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Weekday

East Greenwich: Rte. 4 SB, at the I-95 overpass, alternating lane closures for bridge inspection, Thursday from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

North Smithfield: Rte. 146 SB, from the Pound Hill Rd. Exit to the Rte. 104 (Greenville Rd.) Exit, alternating lane closures for bridge inspection, Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cranston/Providence: Rte. 10 at the Union Ave. Bridge, lanes shift to the right for bridge construction.

Newport/Jamestown: Rte. 138 EB & WB on the Pell (Newport) Bridge, lane closures are possible for painting and steel repairs by the R.I. Turnpike & Bridge Authority, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. At least one lane in each direction will remain open.

Portsmouth/Tiverton: Sakonnet River Bridge (Rte. 24) posted for use by vehicles under 18 tons. Heavier vehicles must use alternate routes.

East Providence/Providence: Waterman Ave. EB on the Henderson Bridge, left lane closed for bridge work.

Pawtucket: Pleasant St. and Taft St., from Division St. to Jenks Way at the I-95 overpass, are closed through Fall 2013 for Pawtucket River Bridge construction. Follow signed detours.

Pawtucket: The Garden St. Bridge and the George St. Bridge NB, at the I-95 overpass, bridges closed through Spring 2012 for construction. Follow signed detours.

Providence: Park St. NB, from Smith St. to Orms St., is closed to through traffic until 2013. Follow signed detour.

Providence: Orms St. EB & WB, from Park St. to Douglas Ave., two lanes closed for construction through Spring 2013. At least one lane will remain open in each direction during the day. An alternating one-way traffic pattern is possible during overnight hours.

Providence: Glenbridge Ave., from Saxe St. to the Glenbridge Ave. Bridge, alternating lane closures for Narragansett Bay Commission sewer work, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Providence: Branch Ave., from Rte. 7 (Douglas Ave.) to Langdon St., lane closures possible for Narragansett Bay Commission sewer work, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Restrictions in place until late October 2011.

Bristol: Rte. 114 (Hope St.) NB & SB, from Church St. to Thames St., alternating lane and shoulder closures for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Little Compton: Colebrook Rd. EB & WB, from Rte. 179 (Main St.) to Long Highway, alternating lane and shoulder closures for construction work, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Middletown: Rte. 214 (Valley Rd.) NB & SB, at the intersection with Green End Ave., alternating lane closures for construction, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lincoln: Rte. 116 NB & SB, at the Rte. 146 interchange, alternating lane closures for bridge inspections, Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
