See RI Senior Living Communities Among Best In America, U.S. News Says

Eight Rhode Island senior living communities make list among the best in the United States.

RHODE ISLAND — Older Americans who want to stay close to their families in their retirement years can, depending on their needs, choose from multiple facilities in Rhode Island, according to the 2024 Best Senior Living ratings released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report.

U.S. News evaluated more than 3,500 communities in one or more of the following categories: independent living, assisted living, memory care and continuing care retirement. They were rated on criteria including resident and family members’ satisfaction with safety care, community management and staff, and other services and amenities.

Here are the 10 metropolitan areas that have the greatest number of “best” senior living communities nationwide:

  1. Atlanta
  2. Boston
  3. Chicago
  4. Dallas-Fort Worth
  5. Los Angeles
  6. New York
  7. Philadelphia
  8. Seattle
  9. St. Louis
  10. Washington, D.C.

The report also said that 15 companies own and operate the greatest number of senior living communities recognized in the rankings. Of the 40 companies with 20 or more participating communities, 18 companies had more than 50 percent of their communities recognized in at least one care level.
