SK Native A Rhode Show Finalist

Cassandra Albergaria positively exudes enthusiasm. It's paid off in her quest to be the next host for The Rhode Show. One of five finalists, Albergaria will find out Monday, Dec. 10, if she gets the nod. 

Albergaria, born and raised in South Kingstown and a graduate of the Prout School, lives in Cranston. But she works at Coleman Realtors in East Greenwich and we met last Thursday at the Holiday Stroll.

Albergaria was canvassing many of the shops on Main Street to tell them about The Rhode Show contest and to encourage them to vote for her.

"I love just popping into all the stores on Main Street," she said Monday. 

It's a big week for Albergaria. On Thursday she co-hosts the show, complete with an ear piece and teleprompter. It sounds scary, but Albergaria refuses to be anything but excited about the opportunity. 

One reason for that is because the whole experience has shown her this is the sort of job she was made to do. 

"Now that I know what the job is, I’m like, 'This is my dream job!'"

She particularly likes the very positive nature of the program. "The Rhode Show is all about R.I. and always positive," she said.

Albergaria only learned about the initial audition after her mother heard about it and called her up. "She said, 'Hey, I think you'd be great. You should submit a video.'"

That was back in September. The more than 100 applications were narrowed to 20. That number was cut to five last month and that's where the contest stands now. 

Albergaria believes her very strong Rhode Island ties will help her win the contest – she is the only contestant born and raised in the Ocean State who also lives here now. 

"My hopes are high and I’m working hard and hopefully that’s the recipe for success," she said.
