South Kingstown police arrest two for driving violations.

Charlestown Man Charged With Driving Violations, Possession of Marijuana
Leonard D. Jackson III, 37, of 33C West Castle Way, Charlestown, was arrested at about 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 4 and charged with possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and driving in possession of a controlled substance.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Kingstown Road near the New Fernwood Cemetary clocked a silver Dodge driven by Jackson at 46 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was made as a result.
Police said that while speaking with Jackson, there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. Police noted that a check of his license revealed that it was suspended, and Jackson also couldn’t find his insurance card.

According to police, while performing an inventory of Jackson’s car before it was towed, they found a glass pipe with marijuana in it, a digital scale and a small plastic baggie with marijuana.
As a result, Jackson was arrested without incident. He was processed and then released at about 6 p.m.
North Providence Woman Charged With License Violation
Kelsey Mack, 20, of 54 Peckham Ave., North Providence, was arrested at about 1:36 a.m. on Oct. 4 and charged with driving with a suspended license.
According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Mooresfield Road near the Farmer’s Daughter clocked a car at 52 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was made near Omer Drive.
Police said a background check of the driver – Mack – revealed that her license was suspended. She was arrested without incident and cited for the license violation, and given a verbal warning for the speeding. She was processed and then released at about 2:44 a.m.
