According to South Kingstown , on the night of April 6 Fraley and Blunt took car keys from a table at Old Mountain Lanes and then stole the car from the parking lot. A description of the car was broadcast to area police departments.

Police said security footage from the bowling alley didn’t have a direct view of the table with the keys. However, police said Fraley and Blunt can be seen getting into a dark-colored car, similar to the victim’s.

According to Narragansett police, an officer saw a black Nissan with the same registration at the stolen car making a turn on to Boon Street at about 9:05 a.m. on April 7.

The officer followed the car and turned on his emergency lights at the intersection of Boon and Westmoreland streets. Police said at that point, the driver of the car – Fraley – made a right turn on to Westmoreland, and then on to a side lawn of 51 Gibson.

Police said Fraley then got out of the car, while it was still in drive, and began to flee the scene. The passenger – Blunt – stayed in the car, and the officer had to chase the car for a short distance to make sure it was in park, to prevent it from hitting a garage.

According to police, Blunt immediately told them that he had a pellet gun in his jacket pocket. He said that he and Fraley had taken the car around for a joyride in Providence the night before, and were going to ditch it in Narragansett after wiping off their prints.

Police said another officer responding to the scene heard dogs barking on a nearby street, Woodward Avenue. The officer said that he saw Fraley walking between houses and told him to stop, at which point Fraley surrendered to police.

Fraley allegedly told police a similar story to Blunt’s. He told police that he and Blunt had shared a bottle of E&J brandy, and then went to the bowling alley to talk to a couple of “cute girls” who were bowling.

While the group was bowling, Fraley said he and Blunt took the car keys from their table. The keys had a car unlock button, so he and Blunt were able to find the car in the parking lot and take it.

Fraley told police that he and Blunt drove around Providence for the night, and then went back to Narragansett because he was thinking of driving the car into the ocean.

Blunt was processed, arraigned and released at 3:30 p.m. He was issued an April 17 date for Fourth Division District Court, and a felony screening date of May 15.

However, Fraley was transported to the ACI. According to police, the new charges violated the terms of his probation for a Jan. 11 no contest plea to a Charlestown Police charge of simple domestic assault.

According to past South Kingstown , Fraley was also arrested in March 2011 and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a weapon other than a firearm.

However, there is no record of this arrest in the judicial database, suggesting that the charges were dismissed and then expunged, or that Fraley completed a diversion program for first-time offenders.

Fraley appeared in Fourth Division District Court on April 9. A felony screening date was scheduled for May 15. At a violation hearing for the Charlestown offenses, a one year suspended sentence was added to Fraley’s term. He posted bail and was released.
