SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — The South Kingstown Animal Shelter was recognized by a national organization as a no kill animal shelter for 2022, police said Sunday.

The recognition came from the Best Friends Animal Network, a nonprofit that partners with thousands of public and private shelters, rescue groups, spay/neuter organizations and other animal welfare organizations throughout the U.S. According to Best Friend's website, the organization's mission is to save the lives of homeless cats and dogs through collaboration, information-sharing and implementation of proven lifesaving strategies.

Animals for adoption can be found on the South Kingstown Animal Shelter's Facebook page and Petfinder. The shelter is located at 132 Asa Pond Road and is open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday through Monday.
