RI Gains Another Recreational Marijuana Dispensary

With the approval of the Exeter recreational dispensary, the South Kingstown location can no longer sell marijuana.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — A South Kingstown medical cannabis dispensary has been approved to relocate and sell recreational marijuana in Exeter, according to the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation (DBR).

The DPR approved Sweet Spot Dispensary's hybrid medical and recreational license on Monday. According to a news release, the new shop will operate at 560 South County Trail and is slated to open on Tuesday. Sweetspot Dispensary previously operated a delivery-only medical cannabis business. With the approval of the Exeter dispensary, the South Kingstown location can no longer sell marijuana, Lindsay Russell, a spokesperson for DBR’s Office of Cannabis Regulation, told WPRI 12.

"OCR is pleased to approve the sixth dispensary for hybrid retail sales and looks forward to the continued expansion of Rhode Island’s adult-use cannabis market in the coming months," Russell told WPRI 12.
