Woman Killed In South Kingstown, Police Have Man In Custody

South Kingstown police say officers had to use a stun gun on the suspect, because he was waving two large knives.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — UPDATE — South Kingstown Man Charged With Murder Of Wife.

South Kingstown police said they arrested a man Wednesday in connected to a homicide investigation into a woman's death.

Police said they were called to a Dam Street home around 9:30 a.m., where they found a woman unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead.

About 20 minutes earlier, police received a call about a suspicious man running through people's backyards. Officers eventually found the man on Church Street. When officers approached the man, he was waving two large knives, according to police.

Police said they tried to deescalate the situation, but the man refused their commands. Officers had to use a stun gun on the man to bring him into custody.

Police have not released the name of the victim, the suspects, or the charges he is facing.

South Kingstown police said there is no threat to the public.
