South Kingstown's Lopardo Nominated to West Point

Congressman Jim Langevin has given Jacob Lopardo a principal nomination to the United Stated Military Academy at West Point.

South Kingstown’s Jacop Lopardo has received a principal nomination to the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.

Congressman Jim Langevin announced on Tuesday that he has nominated the Bishop Hendricken senior to the academy, fulfilling Lopardo’s dream of joining the military since middle school.

Lopardo attended the Summer Leadership Experience at West Point earlier this year and at Hendricken, he is a member of the Academic Honors Society and plays rugby and football, for which he was named to the RIFCA Academic All-League team. Lopardo also traveled to Lima, Peru, on a service trip with his Hendricken classmates, building a home for a family in need and helping out at an orphanage, clinic and church.
