Effective February 5, 2024, the Parks and Recreation Department is overseeing planned infrastructure improvements at Saugatucket Park on High Street. The selected contractor has erected temporary fencing as well as required soil and erosion control measures that will be in place until the project is completed. The park walking path will be replaced with a new asphalt path that reflects the original park master plan designed by the Olmsted Brothers Landscape Architects. Additionally, the chain-link fence running between the park and Saugatucket River will be removed, and invasive species growth will be addressed. A long-term mitigation plan to manage invasives will continue as an element of the project plan.

The public's patience is appreciated while this work is under way. This project is partially funded through a RIDEM Recreation Development Grant.
