23 Harrington St. Sells for $3.12 Million

The stunning 6,000 square foot boathouse at 23 Harrington St. has sold for $3.125 million.

The house, listed by Hogan Associates, is a special type of property that can only be found in a city like Newport, which has a long history and was built because of its advantageous access to the sea.

Here, the new owner will enjoy luxury accommodations with ultra-high-end details and stunning views of Newport Harbor. At the same time, the supreme living quarters lie above a soaring-ceilinged marine workshop with nautical styling, radiant heat and two mighthy wooden doors that look ready to swing open and cough out a vintage wooden powerboat.

The three-story, 9-room house has three bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and an annual tax bill of $18,385.

The original asking price was $3.2 million.

The house was built in 1999 and is assessed at $1.6 million, according to city records.

The seller was Andrew L. Ross, who paid $1.8 million in 2005.

The buyer was not disclosed.
