Bois Dore Carriage House Sells for $2.43 Million

The Bois Dore Carriage House in Newport, a 4,428 square-foot “historic gem” located on Bellevue Avenue near the Cliff Walk, sold last week for $2.43 million.

The original list price for the house, located at 132 Webster Ave., was $2.7 million, according to data from the statewide Multiple Listing Service.

The house, originally built in 1900, has been recently given a total renovation that brought to life a number of historic details along with delivering modern and state-of-the-art upgrades. Just check out the kitchen in the photo gallery below.

Along with four bedrooms, four full bathroom, three floors and 12 rooms and all, the new owner is going to need to find five cars to fill the garage and time — or a gardener — to tend to the more-than one acre of lawns and gardens, which is all but a requirement in the exclusive Ochre Point neighborhood in Newport.

There’s a marble fireplace, hardwood floors, an eat-in kitchen along with a dining room, numerous rooms and nooks to read and have small conversations, underground utilities, cathedral ceilings, central air conditioning, modern electricity and an annual heating bill of just $2,800 per year, according to an estimate offered by listing agent Gustave White Sotheby’s Realty.

The property sits in a local historic district and the annual tax bill is $17,000 per year.

City records show that the property is used as a singly family home and is assessed at $1.6 million, according to the 2013 valuation.

The sellers were Elias G. Dominic and Elias G. Carson of New York, N.Y. They purchased the property in 2006 for $1.3 million. The listing agent was Michelle Kirby of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty. The buyer was not disclosed.
